My turn!!! Be warned! Its lengthy!
in Jun 06, my nonchalent hb, Koh, got addicted to the internet every night, and started smiling and making occasional remarks under his breathe. After much grilling, he confessed he was addicted to the SHC-AW section. We were then seriously considering btw the AW and Stream. Hb preferred the AW and me, the Stream. After 3 months research by hb, we were still getting no where. I finally joined the SHC forum in Sep 06. And my, i was blown away, by the "merciless snubbings" and silly jokes by our members. It got to me that this is a club that will be interesting cos it full of "flesh and blood". I mean, other forums are so "technical", but this forum, besides talking about technicalities, it was "full of craps"!
We finally purchased our AW in Sep 06, and had to wait for 6 bids (PI said ride will come in Dec 06). During that 3 months wait, we went for our 1st meet up, in my bro's Vios. We felt shy, yet excited. That 1st meet up we went, was overwhelming for us, for there were so many "hi-s!!! / welcome!!!!" etc.... That particular day, we probably met more than 20 members, for most of them came by to pay for their club t-shirts. The folks we met were Delvin, Dennis, Jomartin, Wave111, Jason8502, Alson, Jojo and many many others. Everyone gathered at the now-defunct kopi shop, joking and laughing.
The 1st actual event we participated in, was the Sentosa Family Day. Still driving my bro's Vios, we boldly attended the gathering. It felt good to see so many AWs parked at the carpark, thou we were the only different car there. Still, we fondly visualised how our new AW will park proudly with them during the next event. Still a newbie, we turned up at the beach, feeling a little lost. But in no time, all the warm "hellos" made us at ease. In fact, after that event, i boldy wrote a short article and posted on the forum, giving a 1st hand account of the day's happening, and shamelessly addressed our brothers (those who were in the water), as hippos... Such a fond memory!!!
2nd event we participated, was 09 Dec 06. It was the Boys Bridgage Sharity Drive. My AW was supposed to be collected later that noon, and hence, we joined in the event, in my company's lorry. We felt good that our folks did not outcast us, for not being in an AW. We actually were part of the convoy! Delvin knew abt our collection, arranged for some brothers to go with us to ensure the ride was collected in order. They were upset that we had to wait for such a long time (3 mths) to collect our car, and had on several occasions, joked that they will go with us to make noise to the PI, so that we can get the ride faster. (of cos they were joking lah). In the noon, sweet Jomartin cameby to pick hb and me up, to go AML. And at AML, we were suddenly greeted by so many familiar faces!! Dennis, Delvin, Wave111 (Mike), Pastcivic (adrian) and Aerobase (Kent) were waiting for us! It was such a grand entrance! Even my PI was shocked and thot what was happening. We had to assure PI that these folks were there to help to ensure all was in order. These folks even accompanied us to AMK to change our into our 15" sports rims!
Well, after getting our rides, we started hanging out with these folks during "regular" timing, to an extent of 3-4 times a week, for lunch! Our then favourite haunt was Marina South coffee shop. It was mostly western food or curry chicken. And we would have 1-2hr lunch before departing for our own activities. It was also thru such "bonding" that most of us got very "attached" to each other. And the rest, as people says, its history.
Moral of my story is:
1) Join AW club, for its not only a motoring club, its a FAMILY CLUB!
2) Whether u drive other Japanese car, Korean car, er... Continental Car, just come down for the Meet Up to feel the AW and mingle with us.
3) Do not be shy! 1st meet ups are never easy, but we dun BITE... we welcome u with both hands. Just come up and say" Hi, I'm new!!!"... Leave the rest to us.

Ok here's my story..
In jun 07 i was deciding to buy a car. Short listed a few cars like Nissan Latio, Mazda3, Lancer, Airwave n Fit.
Like every first time buyer i know nuts abt the car. so i did a search in the net for car review n forums.
Happen to find SHC website. den the Airwave section. Did alot for read up in the forum abt the car.
think i gone throught almost everything. Before deciding to post my first msg in the forum.
I beleive my first posting was in the meet up session post asking for detail on the meet up.
My first meet up in the club as in aug 07 at Beo Cresent MSCP. First time there feels weird somehow. *may beshy*
But i like the feeling seeing how close the members in the clubs are and to see so many same car park together.
Left early that time and manage to hitch a ride in bro jasson car back to the east. Few days later I finally book my pearl white car.
After that i have been going down to most of the meet up at Kallang or mini events. As that time i wasnt driving so travel there using bus.
Going to Meet up is fun.. To hear from different person their experience of the car. See their mod of their car and posion available to add on to the cars..
Like to take tis chance to thank Wave111 (Michael) for letting me hitch a ride back to east during the meet ups or event. During the time i was waiting for my car..
As for those ppl wondering how long i waited for my car. I got my car Jan08.
I have enjoy countless meetup n events with the club having fun all the way..
Looking forward to events thats coming up...
Sorry for the messy write up..

Hi Bros,
I'm new to the club and have been browsing thru this site eversince I got my ride 4 months ago. I find the site very informative and the Bros here very interesting. So far I've only got a chance to talk to Bro Delvin over the phone and he has extended his warm welcome. If time permits I would really like to meet up with u guys this Friday.
