juz wanted to share my experience of how i joined this fabulous club and make lots of frens here

like most potential AW buyers, i did my research and come across this forum in nov 07 before i bought my ride in dec 07

that time, too shy even to post anything here to ask but juz quietly read thru all the threads
after buying my storm silver then, first thing on my mind was to buy some stuff for the car of cuz.

here, i do not deny that when i first join this forum, my mind was on how to get cheap and good buys

i bought my first scuff plate and visors from moses then, then remember reading a thread here that mention a vendor add at gelyang so went down there to let him install. there, i bumped into bro delvin who was quite puzzled over how i manage to know that place cuz i guess then everyone went thru him to fix appt to go install things and i juz budged in like that. was quite scared of bro delvin then cuz his voice quite loud. now come to think of it, quite funny also..

my second trip to gelyang there was to install some lightings i bought from Axxxbxx then and this time round, i bumped onto bros yusir and wave111 and of cuz, bro delvin is there la. and being a new bird then, still dunno must fix appt then go down install things. but now of goodwill, bro delvin actually help me to get the vendor to do for me on the spot.

it was then bros yusir and wave111 actually asked me to go down to the meetup and as usual, like most shy bros, i only smile smile and say will go down if free.

one nite in jan, i finally up my courage and really thicken my skin to go meetup for the first time.

down there, dunno anyone and was actually quite sian cuz no one to talk to. then saw bro wave111 and yusir coming

lucky ah...at least someone to talk to liao

second meetup still also sian but then i realised also that i have to make the first move and befren the rest and honestly, i had a hard time remembering all the nicks although they keep assuring me i will remember eventually

morale of the story: i sincerely hope that new members who join in this forum will come to the meetups and join us more often in our events and kopi sessions. once shy, twice ok liao. now i dun go meetups ah, i also body itchy lei. amd dun worry, the seniors will make u guys feel like home one

ok, lets share mine,

I bought my ride in Nov06, but oni get to join the club in Jun08! Why?...knn...how the hell i know got such club!!! I hv seen Swift, Impreza n maybe some existing model of car, but no Airwave club leh, Airwave was pretty new then.
I surfed the net, type "Airwave", n wat i get is full of jap crap... , no singapore link at all ( anyway, realised that i shld hv narrowed it to Sillypore site...sigh)...In late 06 and early 07, i was still working in Golden Mile Complex, and i keep seeing tis damn chio storm silver Airwave opp the complex" HDB carpark...fyi...tats bro Delvin's ride...lucky nvr jealous go n scratch his car... ...i even took pics of his car then, so tat i can fantasize abt it ...hahahahaha
My ride was damn stock then, cos got no frens drive Airwave, so nobody to share abt Airwave's mods.
Then 1 fateful afternoon ( or morning, forget liao), saw tis Airwave with our URL on its back !...wah sai...found new mainland liao... , quickly log on to the site and find tis place...THE AIRWAVER CLUB !
Registered quick quick and start to roam the site, so infomative ! Well, if u read enuff, u will know who r the "key personnel" in tis club, quite obvious...hahahaha...then that Fri day, pluck up my courage n went for the meetup at CP G.
When i first went there, i was quite early then, abt 730pm, drove arnd the carpark cos they din state exact location, n you know, tat carpark is BIG, it can be anywhere...then for abt 5 min, saw abt 3 AW parked side by side near the coach bay, so i drove there n parked opp them, cos i paiseh, dun noe correct or not....hahaha
I sat in my car for abt 5 min or so, observing those ppl there, trying to guess wat the F they r doing..hahaha, then i came out of my car, took out a stick to smoke n pretending to be cool n was standing like 1 kuku bside my car...hahahahahahaha
After the smoke, i plucked up my "bear heart leopard gut" n walk towards them, n guess wat, they r really very frendly group of ppl, Iggy was the 1st to intro himself, then Jason8052 and Wave111. They were familiar ppl in the forum, (i meant their nicks lah), so can kind of recall wat r the things they have said in the forum, n used it to strike conversations with them.
And of cos, awhile later, after 8pm or so, more n more n more kakis came, then met Vlad , who then gave me the decal, which then caused "hurt" to my car!....lol...hahahaha, some bros will noe wat i refer to...whahahaha
I oni get to see bro Delv on my 2nd visit...then onwards, i became quite regular with the meetups n met even more frends..

My story:

Still driving my Carens and moderator of sgkiaclub, went down to meetup before getting COE but deal with PI confirmed. Heartache as already signed with PI then found the forum so cannot ask for more freebies....last time the forum is not this sgairwaver forum (not yet formed then) but Honda Forum (for all honda models)....

went down meet up and approached Honda ppl and found out, unlike Kia, all different models of Honda are seperated from each other.....then managed to see a handsome "old bird" driving the L-model (last time L-model really really rare and stylo ok!) As usual, the handsome old bird is bro Delvin lah......everytime haven't see him, can already hear his voice from afar!:lol:He approached me and friendly friendly introduced me to all oldies......

Later, joined a few airwavers+family go AirPapan, first Airwave "overseas" trip and I was the newest car then...... on the way back, impromptu came out with a hokkien slang of Airwave tune (those oldies will know )....later, from new bird, I also become old bird and kena moderator liao lor....... why was I chosen? Ask senior mod lah

Btw, vlad very good to come out with this thread....got many fond memories....many members come and go......but some change car liao still dun want to go Really appreciate their friendship! Yes, I am referring to ppl like Adrian (pastcivic, knn should be pastairwave ) and Alssion (alssionx)

First found some info from the web about a handsome wagon with respectable specs, the Honda Airwave.

Mentioned to bro iggy24 & later he got that ride after his evaluation with some euro hatchbacks.
Sat in his new ride a couple of times & found the rear seats are very spacious. I'm SOLD.
Also met Jamesbon72, cos we're all colleagues before.

Iggy mentioned about an AirwaveR section in the SHC (Spore Honda Club forum) & saw the various GBs he has participated in.

Followed by my turn to book a unit.
I immediately registered in the SHC forum & TCSS along.
In fact, I collected my ride after 3 months later (which is the average waiting period in early last year) as this PI car is slowly gaining popularity.

I did not go for the Kallang Mac meetups but the Pasir Ris Prawning Event is my first outing with this family.
Nearly freaked out, when the convoy stared at my ride (huh? new # plate...who's tat?).
The FIRST gentleman to shake my hand is D.E.L.V.I.N sir.
Next, I met Wave111 (who's the organiser), Ryanyusoff & his cousin, Ah Boon/Angeline, Kohl/JazzJewel, Nic73, Pastcivic, JoMartin, Jason8052, Mavloo (Mod aka Boba Fett)...

From there onwards, I try to attend the Meetups & Events whenever its possible.
Remember my 1st meetup is at Fort Road carpark, kenna lots of mosquito bites...wahaha...
Meetup location is switched from Kallang Mac to Kallang carpark G & is now back to familiar grounds.

Then came the new SgairwaveR URL & I guess it's now a very popular forum.
Kudos to the webmaster, Moderators, the helpful members & of course our people polis...

The GB section in the forum is simply amazing!
Got some good deals from our official vendors.
Infact I collected my strut bar even before I got my ride...HKS exco is next...whoohoo...

well, I got smitten by this Airwave in Nov 2005, can't take it anymore, so made booking and got my ride in Dec 05. At that time, nothing about Airwave, yes, NOTHING or Any kind of additional info abt this beautiful ride, other than the Honda Website itself.. and all in Japanese. All I manage to find is SHC (Singapore Honda Club) and back then, airwave queries are found in the "Others etc" models section.. hehehe That is when the members are increasing in the forum, and seeing more Airwaves during the SHC meetup, SHC decided to give us a Airwave Section, breaking away from the "Others etc" section. And with "great support" from the Back Then wavers, I was being volunteered to be the Airwave Moderator, hahahaha.

To be frank, the first ever Airwave Meetup at Kallang was on a Sat afternoon, delvin wasn't with us yet. There were only about 5-6 Airwaves... but slowly, until 1 fine night.. that fateful night... I think 21st July 2006.. that was when I first got to know Delvin. As usual, LSLY... hahahahah ONLY him with the L Grade Airwave.. and everyone was WAH.... fart hao! hehehe from then onwards, I know the club is going to pick up as this new group of Airwavers are so passionate and active! true enough, no meetup, whole body feel itchy.. not only fridays we meetup... almost every other day we meet up for lunch, dinner or night kopi.... we had our first Megashoot in Sept 06, and from then onwards, the membership grew tremendously. I still remember how I got to know Jomartin, Wave111, Nic73, Chngdon, Delvin, Jamesbon72, Jojo, Alson, and many many more... some of those "how you know him" moments are so comical... too much to tell, thinkin back also can laugh. FYI, our club logo, yes, the airwave logo, is designed by Phearoun... anyhow design also can be approved by us.. wahahahha but seriously speaking, if he didn't take the effort to design and show us, will we be as of today? no matter what, I still wanna thank him.

Time flies, it is 2009 now, club is about 3 yrs old.. and I get to know this bunch of pple for 3 yrs liao... and these frens are really hard to come by. Though I've not been to meetup as frequent as last time.. but I will still be supportive to the club activities and events. Whatever it is, without you, there is no AirwaveR Club.

i can still remember the first time i went for meetup, only know its kallang mac carpark

kiasu so was there at 7pm and really literally parked at kallang mac carpark
then me kuku...jalan around, try to piece the location saw in the pics posted.

lucky that evening i met spaceground and he pointed out to me where the meetup was

if not, maybe after searching and cannot find, i may just left.

come to think of it, if i were to leave then, i will not meet so many new frens

and a note to the new bros and sistas, these fabulous group of pple not just only frens we met once a week, we also jio one another for kopi and lunch. sometimes, i think a few bros see me also will see until sian

also the airwavers are there for one another. i remember two particular incidents. first was with bro jasson. that time not so familiar with him. was reseting my ecu then suay suay drop the fuse into my bunch of wires. panic and so called and ask him what to do. though the method is primitive, hey!, it works hor.

second was with bro wave111. wave111 stay opp my place. one day, forget to off the cooler switch in the car and knn...next morning, car no bat. called wave 111 and lucky he at home, so he come over and help me jump start

pls do share ur xperience here, looks like most of u were blur like sotong when we went for our 1st meetup.hahaha. . good to know that we r not alone..( i meant the type of feeling tat we xperience).
My advice to those new kakis who are planing to come for the 1st meetup, dun be shy, make the 1st move n approach us, cos we wouldn;t know whether u happen to park there or are there for the meetup...

一 次 生， 两 次 熟， 三 次 入 洞 X。。。hahahaha

My story goes like this ....

1 yrs & 3 mths ago, I finally decided that years on 2-wheels and a few broken bones later ..enough is enough. For my wife & my longevity, it's time to change to a car.

Coincidentally at that time, through some fateful arrangement met up with long lost fren Sista JJ. And came to know she drives a Airwave, at that time I thought " What the hell is that, wave at the air ??!!" ..... Then I did my home work, researched all I can on the car & joined the Airwave forum & family before I even got my car.

Research had shown me that Airwave was the most Chio & better performing car of it's category (Personal Opinion), and the Airwave family proved to be the most helpful & heart-warming gang around. So ... Mai Tu Liao !!

Getting the car was quite a breeze too, thanks to of course Mel32 who helped with all the nitty gritty stuff.

The first meet-up was quite nerve wreaking, though JJ keep assuring me. Being the introvert guy that I am, really paiseh. But my "Tour-guide (JJ)" did a great job, introducing me to some of the most famous "Poison-Kings" around .... after that it was no turning back !

No regrets till now, except that I couldn't come for most of the meet-ups (Dun scold me hor !) .... I guess that's it ...haha
